Colour shaping abstraction in oil
At heart I am an abstract expressionist. I truly enjoy shaping and sculpting wet oil paint on a canvas or a board without an outcome in mind. Usually the art work evolves and sometimes I struggle to find the "right" result. I know most people have a problem with abstraction, simply because they feel anyone can do it and it has not meaning; as artists we feel a bit differently.
Someone once told me that abstraction is a bit like jazz, you have to like it or you won't care for it. I trust you will like some of what you see.
About two years ago (June 2018) I developed a desire to turn my art works into patterns for textile purposes. I then discovered that my abstract designs work very well as patterns.
I will include a video link to the first abstract works I made during 1997 and 1998.
